Public Health Leadership

Overview

Mission: To foster effective leadership and partnership for preventing heart disease and stroke.

Goals:

1.  To establish and improve partnerships to develop, implement and evaluate plans to address heart disease and stroke: 

  1. Ensure that there are adequate representation of partners on planning groups
  2. Provide guidance for development and implementation of comprehensive state plans
  3. Ensure that partners are committing resources and sharing accountability for the state plan 
  4. Insure that the state plan is evaluated

2.  To educate key decision makers to support heart disease and stroke prevention policies and programs

Current Activities:

1)  Working with CIG to pilot processes to collect information from National Forum
     leaders, members and implementation groups about opportunities for
     leadership and partnerships in heart disease and stroke prevention.
2)  Developing “prospectus” on leadership and partnerships for presentation to the
     Executive Committee or Coordinating Board.
3)  Participating in the planning of the 8th National Forum.
4)  Exploring the development of a conference or training session on leadership and
     partnership in heart disease and stroke prevention.
5)  Identifying resources and/or training opportunities related to leadership and
     partnership in heart disease and stroke prevention that could be promoted via the
     National Forum website and other means.

STATE PLAN INDEX
The Public Health Leadership and Partnership Implementation Group developed an "Abbreviated State Planning Index for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention" for use by state-based programs and their partners in developing comprehensive statewide heart disease and stroke prevention plans.  This "Abbreviated State Planning Index" and other "Tools for Building a Better Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Plan" will be presented at the September Training Institute sponsored by the NACDD's Cardiovascular Council and CDC's Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention.  To view these materials or to download a copy, click below:
